Linux System Administrator - Mid- Senior Level, full time.

Performs system capacity analysis and planning, maintains servers, creates monitoring reports and logs, and ensures functionality of system links


Performs configuration management and documentation of network and system topologies


Prepares technical implementation plans that provide integrated solutions, including actions, milestones, timelines, and critical paths required for complete solutions


Possesses comprehensive knowledge of the organization’s hardware, software, and network components in addition to knowledge of programming languages and operating systems, current equipment and technologies in use, enterprise backup and recovery procedures, and system performance monitoring tools


Plans, organizes, and documents complex system design activities and configure systems to be consistent with the USCYBERCOM policies and procedures


Organizes and directs the configuration and operation of information management systems


Provides the day-to-day system administration to include system and resource optimization, and user assistance


Conducts capacity and performance analysis, and provides system configuration change and upgrade recommendations


Increases system administrator efficiency and accuracy via the use of automated tools and scripts, develops system administrator procedures, and conducts system administrator training and skills assessment


Determines computer user needs; analyzes system capabilities and programming techniques and controls





Minimum 10 years of system administrator experience


Minimum of High School Diploma


Minimum DOD 8140/DOD 8570 IAT Level I Certification


One year of modern operating systems and network architectures, certification and accreditation, architecture development and design, risk Assessments, and IA Metrics gathering.


The most qualified candidates will have experience in the following areas:

  • Demonstrated systems administration experience administering user accounts; performing server subsystem configuration, network management, installation of software, backups, configuration management, and general system maintenance; and providing input to the design of the organizations systems and mission architecture.
  • Linux administration expertise for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.1 (RHEL 7.1), system operations, patching, updates, scripting, and performance tuning
  • Nagios and automated configuration service and system performance and health monitoring
  • Deep familiarly with STIGs and applying STIGs to RHEL 7.1, Java, Tomcat, and PostgreSQL software and services
  • AWS Cloud Environment (EC2)
  • VMWare/Virtualization/Docker
  • SSL, PKI, and TLS
  • Role based Security/Enterprise Authentication/Authorization


  • IP Tables
  • Familiarity with DISA DECC
  • Application and data backup and recovery
  • system backup/restore procedures
  • system security practices
  • system tuning
  • user administration
  • software and hardware installation and maintenance
  • file management and system troubleshooting
  • operating systems (e.g., Windows, Unix/Solaris, LINUX) and storage filers (e.g., NetApp, Isolon)
  • system accreditation support
  • system configurations
