Overview

Senior System Engineer needed to support NGA.

 

Must have an active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph. Work based out Ft. Meade, Maryland.

 

Must presently be 8570 compliant (IAT Level 2); must be 8570 compliant (IAT Level 2) by date of indoctrination with any necessary continuing education (CE) for certification 

 

The scope of this contract relates to the management of NGA’s Research Labs across the US.  The effort will provide both system administration for networks, servers, cloud and audio/visual devices and security engineering support services to include architecture documentation and testing.

They are an official Amazon Web Services (AWS) Partner, and are pleased to now offer Cloud Solutions Architecture and Engineering using AWS. We promote the advancement of our staff in achieving AWS certifications.

 

Responsibilities/Job Function:

  • Analyzes user’s requirements, concept of operations documents, and high-level system architectures to develop system requirements specifications

  • Analyzes system requirements and leads design and development activities

  • Guides users in formulating requirements, advises alternative approaches, and conducts feasibility studies

  • Provides technical leadership for the integration of requirements, design, and technology

  • Provides continual improvement recommendations for engineering and administration of IT processes and practices

  • Manages the activities of System Engineers and System Administrators to ensure that system and cloud resources and tasks are properly maintained, addressed, and completed to meet customer expectations

  • Incorporates new plans, designs and systems into ongoing operations

  • Develops system architecture and system design documentation

  • Interacts with the Government regarding Systems Engineering technical considerations and for associated problems, issues or conflicts

  • Communicates with other program personnel, government overseers, and senior executives

 

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Mandatory Security Clearance Requirement: TS/SCI with CI Poly
  • Demonstrated proficiency and experience working with some or all of the following: Linux (CentOS and Red Hat), Microsoft Windows (Server and Workstation), Amazon Web Services (AWS), databases (Oracle, MySQL), web services, internet protocols, Network Attached Storage (NAS) and Storage Area Network (SAN) systems

  • Experience and proficiency working with Amazon Web Services (AWS)

  • Exceptional computer skills and proficiency on PC platforms

  • A basic understanding of UNIX files structure and capabilities

  • Demonstrated experience creating and managing Active Directory and DNS

  • A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institute in an area applicable to this position (e.g. information systems, computer science, math, or engineering) and twelve (12) years of relevant technical experience

    • An additional four (4) years of relevant technical experience may be substituted for the Bachelor’s Degree
  • Must presently be 8570 compliant (IAT Level 2 preferred); must be 8570 compliant (IAT Level 2) by date of security indoctrination with any necessary continuing education (CE) for certification 

 

Qualifications:

  • Previously worked in a Research Lab environment
  • Previously supported NGA IT operations
  • Previously worked in an O&M environment where ITIL best practices were employed
  • AWS Certified SysOps Administrator or AWS Certified DevOps Engineer
